Since we have other recordings and books by him, many of the stories and suggestions were not new to us. If this had been our first product by Darren we may have felt that it should be rated higher. However, this book is worth hearing or reading. There are two particular CD's that we will listen to multiple times. It is not a step-by-step book on being an entrepreneur. It goes over the pros and cons and how to get over hurdles to keep moving forward. The last disc is actually a DVD rather than a CD but it is not marked as such.
"The Entrepreneur Roller Coaster" likens becoming an entrepreneur with the various stages of a roller coaster ride. The ups and downs, and the twist and turns. But most of all, the process of overcoming our own fears!
Why should you invest time and money in the book?
Perhaps the the author summed it up best when he wrote in the epilogue
"That Saturday morning breakfast turned into lunch and before we knew it, it was almost happy hour when Mike finally let out a sigh.
" 'Man. I just wish I would’ve recorded this or something. I know a few guys who could use this dose of perspective. And even more they need someone to say to them what you just said to me….' He stopped as an unexpected lump got caught in his throat.

Thank you Darren Hardy for writing this book for Mike and all the other entrepreneurs pondering what to expect, and whether it is normal. I highly recommend "The Entrepreneur Roller Coaster"!
The relationship of the a roller coast ride and this book is so relevant it is SCARY! The stories are excellent guides to allow the information to "stick!" If there is any doubt in your mind about the journey to the top is about YOU, then, you need to re-read this book many more times! It is Always your journey and you must be strong enough to step away from all those doubters and detractors. As you travel, you will discover your true friends and supporters! Go forth with absolute confidence. You WILL find your way! In addition, you will find YOU!
As I got about a fourth of the way into the book, I realized that my daughter, who will soon be graduating from college, should read this. Not because she is an entrepreneur as she'll likely find a job and work for someone out of school. Rather, so she'll understand the importance and satisfaction of being an entrepreneur, start thinking about the possibilities, and then pull the trigger and know how to do so.
I wish I would've had this instruction 10 years ago when I started my business. Some of this might be validation which is always good to read but I found there were well over three things in this book that were actionable for me -- and that's worth a lot. Note read a good book 10 times instead of reading 10 books. This is one of those books that's worth reading more than once and practicing daily.
Darren Hardy is the . . . MASTER of getting the right things done right. Listening to his audio book read by Darren Hardy himself is really motivating.
My 3 main takeaways are
First, he works harder than everyone else, and then realizes that he is not getting as much Accomplished as people worth $100x more than him who seem to work less. Why is that?
Second, The higher up you go, you are not compensated for doing, you are compensated for thinking, and taking the right actions and getting the right people to do the right work.
We can either be our worst nightmare, or biggest stumbling block to our own success. What an insight. Darrren goes into more detail about this idea.
Third and most importantly, entrepreneurs need to fail forward. Failure is part of the process or journey to success.
Listen first, then read the book.

It seems silly to write a review about a book that I just purchased and am only in the middle of Chapter two of. So why write one? Because if I stopped reading right this minute and never read any more of this book, it would have been worth the money to buy it and the effort to read this far.
As an entrepreneur myself, I can relate to all I've read this far. I applaud Darren Hardy for having the passion, and taking the time and energy that it took to write this masterpiece. I can't wait to read more, yet already, I would love to share this book with the entire world.
I also have to say that I absolutely love how he writes. It is funny, thorough, insightful, enthusiastic, passionate, and straight forward all at the same time. He writes from his own experiences, and that of being the publisher of Success Magazine and having interviewed a cadre of successful entrepreneurs in a wide variety of fields.
And, this book is not just a book. It is a an adventure. It is a road map, It is a resource. It is a master plan. It is a mentor. This is a complete package, well researched and compiled, with all manner of helps and loads of encouragement.
If you've ever thought even just a little about being in business for yourself, this book will be well worth your investment in time and money.
